Environment Law and Development, Senior Legal Adviser to ELDF is a Law graduate from University of Delhi. He has 34 years of administrative & scientific experience. He is former Joint Secretary to Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India. He has done Ph.D. from University of Leeds, UK and Masters from I.I.T Kanpur. He also has a D.Litt. in Economics. He has been trained in various international universities including University of Sussex, Brighton & Imperial College of Science & Technology, London. Dr. B.P Nilaratna has been the National Focal Point for Ozone and Montreal Protocol and for Mangroves and Coral Reefs in India. He was National Project Director for UNDP-GEF Project on Medicinal Plants. He has implemented numerous projects including the Multilateral Fund Projects and the Chillers Energy Efficiency Project of UNEP. He has to his credit numerous publications on a variety of subjects including Mangroves & Coral Reefs in India and a number of research papers on energy, ozone & chemicals management. Dr. Nilaratna has been awarded numerous distinctions including scholarships from International Institutes, Overseas Merit Scholarship, Chancellor Medal among others. He has led several Indian delegations in his official capacity in the entire globe including Meeting of Parties, Regional Meetings and Executive Committee Meetings of Montreal Protocol under United Nations Environment Programme.

Kartikeya is a graduate of Law College Dehradun, where he did most of his schooling from as well. He has travelled across large swathes of the country to document issues ranging from ineqaulities in natural resource sharing and human-animal conflict. His efforts in conservation have including making documentaries, writing popular science articles and holding awareness workshops in remote Himalayan villages. He is most passionate about wildlife and issues regarding climate change.
Kartikeya has been known to rescue snakes and represent India at International Shooting events.
Pavitra Balakrishnan graduated from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. She has published a number of research papers, including specific studies on the Principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibility. She is particularly interested in the protection of Biodiversity and also keeps an eye out for matters related to the nascent field of International Environmental Law.
Pavitra is a trained dancer and also likes to flip through a good book from time to time.
Maya Ramesh graduated from Symbiosis Law School, Pune. She has interned in many prestigious law firms in her college days, dabbling various areas of law such as taxation, dispute resolution and commercial laws. She is passionate about the environment, and shows spirited consciousness to devote herself to this cause. Her areas of interest include wildlife, climate change and environmental policy.
Maya is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and loves traveling.
Prakhar Pandey is a recent post-graduate from TERI University specializing in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. He has interned with ELDF and several other law firms, organizations during his graduation. He has actively participated in various moot courts and conferences pertaining to environmental law. He was awarded with Major Dhruv Yadav Memorial Award and a scholarship for his dissertation on Role of Judiciary in combating Climate Change – A comparative study of trends and potential of climate litigation in US and Australia with India.
He loves to travel, is an avid reader, paints and also sings.
